Have you been wanting to make Persian Tiles or a similar Janie Crow afghan project but haven't worked up the nerve to get started? Maybe it looks too complicated or too big or too... (you fill in the blank). Whatever the reason, 2024 is the year to banish your fear and trepidation and crochet the Persian Tiles afghan!

There are just four different motifs within the design; the main octagon piece, of which you need to make 16, is surrounded by variations on granny squares and triangles. Join Beth on the last Saturday of the month*, January through August, while she leads us through the pattern, breaking it down into manageable chunks. We will start with the inner rounds of the octagons and work through the octagon pattern over the first few months. Then we'll move on to the granny squares and granny triangles.
*Except for February-we will meet on 3/2 instead of 2/24.

Your finished afghan will measure about 45" square. If you want to make something smaller, a set of three or four octagons would look great as a pillow or table topper.

The stitches used are chain, slip stitch, single crochet, double crochet and treble (triple) crochet, the magic comes from color choices, stitch placement, and a smattering of overlay stitches. You will want to be confident with the stitches used prior to joining this crochet along, so you can concentrate on making magic!
